OK fixed. I started deactivating plugins. Then the web pages came back. So I reactivated all the plugins. Now it’s working perfectly. Don’t know what caused it. I’d still like to know, if anyone has any ideas…
Have a look at your php error log.
Had a look at the log but found nothing relevant. Weird!
It may have been a race condition (two things running around the same time) that barfed. Hard to say without the logs :/
Are you talking a system lock? – that would affect the entire multisite or apache2, rather than just the main blog wouldn’t it?
/var/log/apache2/error.log contains a single error for my WordPress installation that’s from a different blog and theme from my main blog. It was ongoing, so no new errors were logged at the time webhive.com.au faulted. (I’ve now fixed the error.)
I found this line in dmesg:
[1895987.361653] possible SYN flooding on port 80. Sending cookies.
But I don’t know what time that happened…
Cheers
Jackie
No, not a system lock, a weird case where WP is loading things in an order that doesn’t play well with itself.
Ah ok. I’ve got so many plugins now that that could easily happen. Will see if I can drop any.
Thanks for your help Mika.
