Hello all. I am looking for advice on what path to take. I currently have my woodworking/DIY website http://www.jayscustomcreations.com and want to make a specific section dedicated to a new YouTube series I am about to start. I want this section to have a seperate wordpress theme though. It will be almost entirely YouTube videos so I am wanting this section to have a multimedia theme. Is it possible to install a second theme on my site? Something like mywebsitename.com/sketchuptutorials will take you to the second theme and clicking back to mywebsitename.com will show the main theme. Or do I need to go the multisite route and create a seperate domain for the multimedia theme? I hope this makes sense and if you can point me into the right direction for further research that would be great.

    There are two options:
    1. Install two WP instances. Problem: Your users may need to login twice!
    2. Make your site multisite. Install WPMU. With this only one WP installation will allow you have multiple sites. Each site can have its own theme, layout, etc. Check out Creating a network.

In your case, you are wanting to have subdirectory structure of the url http://sitename.com/subdomain

    Good luck!

    Thank you for the reply!

Regarding option 1. I am the only user and have no plans to add any more users so for this I can install another instance of wordpress in a subdirectory of my current installation, right? Will this give me two logins for the wordpress backend that I will have to switch between when editing each theme?

  4. Yep.
