• Hi,

Is it possible to install a wordpress multisite on a domain that has a redirect to another domain? The main domain with redirect will be filled later. Will the redirect have any impact on the access of the wordpress multisite. Can I login with http://www.domain.com/wp-admin or will I be redirected instantly to the other domain?

You can map a subsite (like point otherdomain.com to domain.com/sitefoo) if that’s what you mean.

    Look for Domain Mapping plugins.

I thought it is possible to use a domain which is already redirected to another domain for creating the multisite. This can not work as everything installed on that domain will be redirected to that other domain.
So I will register a new domain for installing multisite and as you mentioned use the domain mapping plugin.

    Thanks!

I … really can’t tell what you’re asking. I think the answer is yes, that’s exactly what I said 🙂 Let me try explaining a different way.

Today you have DomainA redirected to DomainB. You want DomainA to have it’s own blog.

So you install WordPress MultiSite on DomainB.

You make a SUBSITE on DomainB called DomainA (so you have http://domainB.com/DomainA or whatver)

You install a DOMAIN MAPPING plugin and tell WordPress “Hey, http://domainB.com/DomainA is really DomainA.com!”

    You have a beer.
