Multisite IP Address/Subdirectory DNS

    Dear WordPress-community, I currently have a server which hosts at an ip address (let’s call it 1.234.56.789). This server is running Turnkeylinux with WordPress and I have, using the A records at my DNS, pointed a domainname (let’s call it domain.com) to this website.

    I now however wish to change this WordPress installation into a Multisite installation. This way I can host another website on the server; it could be accessed by 1.234.56.789/newsite. However, I want to point the new domainname example.com to this new site. As I can’t change the A records to include my subdirectory, how do I do this? Does anybody now? Or can’t it be helped?
