[resolved] Multisite: Can't access subdirectory subsites (4 posts)

I have set up a multisite (subdirectory) installation at litcrawl.org. I can access the main site, but not the subsites (litcrawl.org/austin, for example).

When I first installed, I could get to the front pages of the subsites (litcrawl.org/austin) but not their backends (litcrawl.org/austin/wp-admin). After reading the posts here, I went in and changed all database references to litcrawl.org (no http://www.litcrawl.org). All that seems to have done is broken the front ends as well.

    Any ideas?

If you try visiting http://litcrawl.org/austin/wp-login.php, the "Not found" page that's displayed provides some clues:

The "Home" link points to http://litcrawl.org/austin/litcrawl.org/austin/

The "Sample Page" link points to http://litcrawl.org/austin/litcrawl.org/austin/sample-page/

Can you go to Network Admin, edit the austin site and check the values of domain and path?

  3. Undo the edits you made.

Now go make sure Apache is actually reading your htaccess file. That's how the subolder sites work.

I ended up deleting and re-installing the multi-site WordPress. This time I was sure to omit the "http://www." in all cases and it's mostly working.

    Thanks for the help.
