Domain mapping is not adding the www.
If you had a mapped domain blog.name.com & the domain DNS was set up so both the www and non-www versions of the subdomain pointed at your install then domain mapping would pick up the www subdomain and redirect it to the non-www mapped domain.
The most likely place it is being added is in the DNS settings for the mapped domain.
Look, I know how I set it up. I set for blog.domain.com and the http://www.name.com was pointing to the domain’s own site.
It was not the DNS settings, as I tried it on multiple domains, same issue.
Also, why would anyone set up a www for a subdomain? Like said, the domain and www were set to where the domain was added, in cPanel, to it’s own site. I tried to set blog.domain.com to point to the blog for that site, on my multisite setup on another domain.
Now, I had thought, maybe it was due to both domains being active on same cPanel account, but then tried another domain, on another account, and same thing. Whenever I set blog.name.com it open and redirects to http://www.blog.name.com
Also, why would anyone set up a www for a subdomain?
I have seen instances where people wanted www on their subdomain but I’d say it’s less than 1% of people who would want it.

I wasn’t suggesting you did not know how you set it up. I was trying to suggest a place you could look for the redirect. The other alternative is that there is a default setting somewhere in your webserver config that does the www redirect.
A simple test you can do is remove the DM plugin from your install & see if the www redirect goes away.
Well, DM plugin had been uninstalled, and there’s no way to test it, if can’t map the domain to the blog, now is there?
It’s not the main blog that is redirecting. It’s the domain set to be mapped to a subdomain blog.
For example: I set up a blog site via my multisite, call it test.myblog.com
I try to map blog.name.com to point to test.myblog.com and it redirects to: http://www.blog.name.com with a not found error.
Maybe I did not explain exactly what I meant, before, as it was a long day… LOL

Yes, you can if the DNS & webserver are still set up for the domain.
With the DM plugin removed the domain will redirect to mainsite.com/wp-signup.php?new=requested.name.com or mainsite.com/wp-signup.php?new=www.requested.name.com.
If the www is there then the redirect is happening outside your WP install.
Still having issues, and not only it adding www, but it will not connect to the site.
I created a site, named test
In the Domain Mapping Configuration:
Server CNAME domain: bkpress.pw
In cPanel, I set the subdomain for one of my domains to:
blog.bktemplates.org. 14400 IN CNAME bkpress.pw
In Domain Mapping: Domains:
5 blog.bktemplates.org Yes
Still not working, and still adding the www.
What happens when you remove the domain mapping plugin?
No change.
It’s not even getting to there, it seems.
It’s getting stopped before it gets there, that’s what the issue seems to be.
Are the above settings I showed correct?
It looks right but I haven’t worked with DNS in cPanel.

I have WordPress Multisite installed at block1.co.uk
I have a subdomain in a folder http://block1.co.uk/ailux/ and I want to point the address marketingstamp.com at this subdomain.
First question, can I do this with your plugin?
Assuming I can, I’ve taken these steps:
1. Entered WordPress as Super Admin and deactivated the MU Domain Mapping tool site-wide.
2. Activated the MU Domain Mapping tool in the appropriate subdomain, in the folder http://block1.co.uk/ailux/
3. Gone into Domain Mapping Tools section
Question: What do I do now? How do I make marketing stamp.com point to this subdomain? Can you explain as simply as possible.
