Are you using a plugin to handle the domain name mapping? Cause that’s how you’re supposed to do it π
Yes I do, I activated and configured the plugin “WordPress MU Domain Mapping” for all blogs. I activated it in the network admin plugin settings and configured it in each blog as admin.
I configured it in the multisite settings of a single blog and i’ve set the siteurl and fileurl to http://www.domain1.com
This sounds like you changed it in the network admin -> Sites -> Edit area. Did you do that?
Yes I changed this 2 settings in the edit area because the click-url showed on the page is not correct (like http://www.domain.com/domain1/content…).
Yeah, don’t do that. Undo it. That’s NOT where you change the URL.
You ONLY do it through the plugin.
hmm, well, and how can I undo that? …sorry for my dumb question, but when I deactivate the plugin, this changes nothing. And I cannot deinstall this plugin…
Did you follow the instructions here?
http://ottopress.com/2010/wordpress-3-0-multisite-domain-mapping-tutorial/
Deactivate the plugin.
Go to Network Admin -> Sites and edit the site back to their UNMAPPED state.
Undo whatever redirects you did.
Start at the link above.
I reconfigured the Multisite Plugin referred your tutorial. All the linking is ok now, but I just get the same error for all subpages. The home-page works fine but when I want to open some other subpages or follow links I become this error: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECT
…some more ideas?
Did you go into Network Admin -> Sites and edit the site back to their UNMAPPED state?
So instead of them being domain2.com they should be maindomain.com/foldername or whatever they were.
Yes I edited back all things I found in the settings. There was no Domain mapped after editing and the URL of the blog was http://www.domain.com/domain1. After that I’ve taken the tutorial to setup multisite with the result above.
There was no Domain mapped after editing and the URL of the blog was http://www.domain.com/domain1.
And did your site WORK when you did that?
Can you give us a link to your actual site?
So, back from “holidays”…
thanks for your help. I’ve deleted the hole installation and setup a new wordpress installation with MU. Now it seems to be working.
