Multiple title tags
-
Hi!
I am experiencing an SEO error since I have multiple title tags for my blog posts. There is the title I set in yoast and another one called “testing”. I have checked my theme settings, but I can’t identify the issue.
Hope someone can help πThe page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @josephineremo,
Sorry for the delay. I missed your thread.
What multiple tag do you have? H1, H2, or ? Also, what tool did you use to identify this multiple tag? Or is it your SEO plugin telling you about this multiple tag?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Herman πHey!
No Worries. It seems like it is the SEO title tag. And I’m using Ahrefs which is where im getting the alert from.
Best,
JosephineHi @josephineremo,

I think you misunderstood. Im getting an alert from Ahrefs that I have multiple meta tags, and it seems like its the SEO title. But I can’t resolve this issue or see where its coming from. So I need help to identify what is creating the multiple tags and how to fix it.
Best
I’m still waiting for assistance with this. It’s been 2 weeks now?
Hi @josephineremo, sorry for my lack.
Is it possible for you to share a screenshot showing the alert you got from Ahrefs? I would like to try to check your site there, unfortunately they don’t have a free plan.
I then checked your site using this free tool, unless I missed it, I don’t think I see a similar warning there.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Herman πHi @bsfherman,
I can’t send you screenshots here and also you would just see an alert?
I’m getting a low site health score in Ahrefs because of multiple title tags. When I click into it, it is every single blog post I have where the SEO title (that I specified with yoast) is there as well as a tag specified as “testing”. This applies to all blog posts.
I’m wondering if something is clashing with a plugin or a theme and I would like to get to the bottom of this so I can fix it.

Hi @josephineremo,
What did you mean you can’t send screenshot here? You can upload the screenshot to, your Google Drive for instance, then share the link here.
However, if you cannot send screenshot here because privacy is your concern, then you might consider reaching out to us through our Support Portal. You can share anything there safely and privately.
Kind regards,
Herman πHej @bsfherman,

Hi @josephineremo,
Thanks for sharing the screenshots. Is there any further info about the “Multiple title tags” that is seen in this screenshot? Like what tag that is marked as multiple, the link URL that contains the error, etc.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Herman πHi @bsfherman,
That’s the next screenshot I sent you: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VO1w5yW3c-O7s-lPmUvwh26puR8zxqkd/view?usp=sharing
There you can see the (beginning) of the list of all my blog posts with the same issue. As you can see, it is the SEO title that has two tags; the true one and an extra called “testing” which applies to all of my blog posts.
Hope that helps.
Best.
JosephineHi @josephineremo,
I just noticed that
Testing
title. When I check the source code, I can see it too. Refer to this screenshot, please.Do you have a plugin that has a feature to “inject” something inside the content? If you do, you might want to check it. Also, pretty sure this is has nothing to do with the theme you are using, i.e. even if you switch the theme to a default WordPress theme, you will still have that
Title
.Please let us know how you go.
Kind regards,
Herman πHi @bsfherman,
Thank you for the reply.
Do you have any examples of what type of plugins that could be? Like I have plugins to add social media share buttons, blocks and different things, but maybe you know something that can lead me in the right direction?
Best,
– JHi @josephineremo,
Maybe try by temporarily deactivating all of the plugins you have on your site then check the source code, as seen in the screenshot I shared recently, and if the
Testing
word disappears, that means it’s added there using a plugin.Simply re-activate the plugin one by one and keep checking the source code. When you notice the
Testing
is back, the plugin you just re-activate is the one that is used to add it.Please let us know how you go.
Kind regards,
Herman πHi @bsfherman,
I think I discovered where the testing tag was coming from. It was a bit of code added with the Ad inserter plugin. When I inspected the pages I could see that the tag was included in the blue box at the bottom of all my blogposts.
Could you do me a favour and check it the “testing” title tag is also gone from your end?
Thank you for your help,
Josephine -
