I am working on a walking routes website. Each route has its own child page and I am currently working on customising the widgets on each route's page so that they directly relate to the route content. Principally I am providing a shop window widget with links to buy maps required for that exact walk and also a met office weather widget with the weather for that exact location. You can see an idea of what im aiming at by visiting the page http://babyroutes.co.uk/walking-routes/avon-somerset-walks/dunkery-beacon-walk/
As such, at the moment I am using a plugin that allows me to show/hide different widgets on different pages and I am just creating 2 new text widgets with specific code for each new walking route page. This is fine for the moment but I have two problems:
1) I am pretty sure I've read about there being a limit to the number of text widgets you can create and that even if you overwrite this, it will compromise performance;
2) this method just doesn't seem sustainable and manageable for long term given I am adding several walks a week! It would take me hours to scroll down all the widgets!!
I have very very limited and basic coding knowledge (only been involved in websites for three months!) but am trying to learn and usually ok at following clear instructions. Is there a solution to this problem that would somehow allow me to create one widget that I could set to just change product or location through some coding tag on a specific page? Or is there a code free simple way of doing all this?
Any ideas very gratefully received! Thanks.
