Multiple taxonomy sitemaps created, one gives 404
-
We are using Yoast SEO version 3.1.2 and see multiple sitemaps for the taxonomy post_tag when posts taxonomy is enabled. So we have
post_tag-sitemap1.xml
post_tag-sitemap2.xml
sitemap1.xml is fine and shows all the post tags without issue.
sitemap2.xml is dated a year ago (when site originally installed) and gives a 404. I would like to figure out what plugin or theme file might be creating the additional sitemap. Or if there a yoast error when creating the sitemaps.I have tried the usual suspects:
resaving the permalinks page,
turning off/on sitemaps.xml
turning off/on the taxonomy post sitemapIs there a way to reverse-engineer the post_tag taxonomy and determine what is trying to create the second sitemap? Or what to look for? If according to the Yoast FAQs we have a bad theme or plugin, is the only way to find it to try and de-activate plugins/themes?
