Multiple sites with XAMPP for a novice

    Hello,

    I am new to web development and I need help. I would like to have 3 to 4 WordPress websites on my computer.
    I have Windows 7, Xampp portable lite, Notepad++, and the most current version of WordPress.

    My Xampp(local host) and WordPress are stored on an external harddrive. I have tried understanding this reconfiguring stuff, but I get lost.
    I have tried old youtube videos, and the older forums, but a lot of them assume that everyone else knows what their talking about.

    For starters – Do I have to have my Xampp and WordPress on my “C” drive in order to have more than one site?
    Do you know where I can get a step by step tutorial, for a novice?
    Please use laymans terms.

    These forums and videos have been incredible in learning this stuff quickly.
