Multiple sites combined – syntax for 301 redirects

  • Hi:

I built a new site in WordPress for a client – it has a new domain, but the site is the result of several acquisitions and thus this new site will replace several separate sites. So I have about 5 separate domains and their individual pages to redirect.

I’ve done simple redirects many times in .htaccess but it has always been using the same domain, so the syntax has typically been like this:

    Redirect 301 /oldpage.html http://www.samedomain.com/newpage/

If I’m going from a different domain and page to a new domain and page, can i do the redirects the same way, just including the full urls? Or do I need to do something different?

    Redirect 301 http://oldomain.com/oldpage.html http://www.newdomain.com/newpage/

    Would that work?
