multiple posts under one date heading?

forgive me if this has been already answered, but itried looking through the codex and the forums but I think I was using the wrong search terms, and wasn’t sure what to use…

basically my question is there a way to change the post template so that instead of having the date with each and every post made, how about having all the posts made on the same date under one date heading?? for example: http://www.lifehacker.com/

maybe smeone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated…
