Support » Plugin: ACME Divi Modules » Multiple post types in portfolio carousel

  • Hi there

We are looking for a way to extend the portfolio carousel functionality so that we can have one fullwidth portfolio carousel that includes the standard Projects post type PLUS an additional custom post type from another plugin (an events/calendar plugin). Currently I’m using redirects to get the same result (creating the event/calendar entry, then creating a separate project version that simply acts as a redirect) but I’m now looking to simplify the process so I can train others in updating the site. Its a corporate intranet, so I can’t share the details other than that. Is there a way to hack the portfolio module to give us this functionality for two post types at once?

    Thanks in advance!

    John

    Hi, John.
Thank you for your interest in my plugin.
I had this very same issue on a website of mine, so I added the ‘override-permalink’ option in my Acme Extended Portfolio Module.

Unfortunately, the query behind the module calls a post-type and a taxonomy for that very post-type. So it is not possible to hack the module in order to query multiple post types with their taxonomies.

I don’t know if you are using the module functionality to make redirection. It is quite simple and I think you may teach someone else to manage it.
If you need further information, just drop me a message here.

Ah thanks – that’s a shame. I’m just trying to find the easiest way possible for this to work, as the people that I’ll be training up have no CMS background, so I just need to find the easiest way. The theme is Elegant Themes Divi, and they already have a Portfolio Carousel, but that only picks up their custom post type… perhaps I’ll see if I can hack into that a bit instead!

All the best and thanks for the quick response!

Acme modules can actually pick from any post type, but just one type per module.

I mean, you can have a carousel with events, one with woocommerce products, and one with your custom post type. but you cannot have two or more post types picked in the same module.

Hope you can find a solution
