We love the Sydney theme for our website. However, Google Search Console is alerting us about several mobile usability errors. Their report shows that all pages (including multiple blog posts) have “Clickable Elements Too Close Together,” all pages have “Content Wider Than Screen,” and four pages have “Text Too Small to Read.” The most maddening part is that the site actually looks/functions great for us on multiple mobile devices so we’re unable to recreate the issues for human eyes. Could definitely use some help to solve these issues.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

I’ve just checked your website on Android phone and didn’t see any obvious problems. Can you please describe what exactly has to be fixed?

    Kind Regards, Roman.

Thanks for taking a look, Roman. Yes–that’s the crazy part. We’ve tested it on multiple mobile devices and it seems totally fine from a user standpoint. The problem is that all 33 pages are failing Google’s Mobile Friendly test. Each page is flagged in Search Console as NOT being mobile friendly which I worry will affect our SEO. Since it’s every page, it seems like there must be something within the theme or style sheet that is triggering this?

    Hello,

I’ve just tested Sydney demo site and it is mobile friendly:

You can try to deactivate all your plugins except recommended for Sydney theme and see if it helps.

    Kind Regards, Roman.

Thanks, I tried that and it didn’t help. Google is still saying there are clickable elements too close together and content wider than screen (even though it doesn’t appear that way on an actual mobile device). I’m starting to think it’s something we customized within Sydney (such as drop-down menus) that is not an active part of their demo.

    Hello,

I still think that it’s some plugin issue, please check the screenshot here:

It looks essentially the same with all plug-ins deactivated, which is why I think it must be buried in the style sheet or something. Unless some plug-in would’ve done damage that is not undone upon deactivation?

Link below is with plug-ins deactivated:
