    Hi!

I am having many issues with my TranslatePress plugin, mainly since I switched host to SiteGround, last february. They go on an off without warning, and I have been trying to fix it without success. I mean, I do something, it seems to work for some time, then something else happens…

Right now, I have deactivated the plugin, because it would display strings at the wrong place. I.E. “If Jetpack Social has already finished sharing this message” rather than “order #0000” on an received order email… 🤔 or “show sharing menu in the reader” rather than “tax” on the cart page… 🙃 Soon as I deactivate the plugin, everything goes back to normal, but if I reactivate it, the bugs come back. So it’s off for now until a solution is found.

Looks like the database is shifted in some way, like the string id on the site is not the same than the translated string id. It is not the first time it happens to my site. I had such an issue when changing hosts for my site, and I had to flush all my translated content to start afresh. Don’t really feel like doing that again if it can happen again in some time…

I am wondering if there is some SiteGround’s features that can trigger the problem? Maybe some caching options? I cannot pinpoint it so far, but I have seen other people sharing issues with TP on SG.

So that is issue #1 : database corruption/misalignment

Issue #2, I had been postponing to look into it for a while, but it is ongoing also since I changed host for SiteGround. I often get 404 errors (the one with my site’s header) on translated woocommerce pages (i.e. products or product-categories). I have tried many settings for permalinks, as well as using GET parameter for language setting to no avail (the GET parameter add-on had fixed similar issues with my previous host).

So, I would like some help to clean up my installation and fix these issues for good. Please 🙏

  • It is a bug in TranslatePress. Several people are complaining about this issue.

Here is the thread I opened:

Thanks @gerske Your bug seams a lot like mine (issue #1)… Have you temporarily deactivated TranslatePress on your site, like I did on mine? How will we know when/if it’s fixed?

I went back to version 2.4 and switched off autotranslation. This is not a real solution of course, but at the least the problem is not getting bigger than it already is.

    Still no reply from Translatepress.

    Hello,

Could you update the plugin to the latest version and let us know if this improve this situation?

    Cheers,

I upgraded from 2.4.0 to 2.4.3 and switched on auto translation again. It has only been 1 day, but I didn’t see any strange changed in the main language strings. So far so good.
