 * Okay, here’s the scenario
 * I have a WP install
 * domain.com/
 * With the sitemap
 * domain.com/sitemap_index.xml
 * Then because I wanted to run a copy of the site with more plugins and didn’t
   want it to burden the whole site I installed another instance of WordPress at
 * domain.com/learn/
 * If I install Yoast on this install I end up with
 * domain.com/learn/sitemap_index.xml
 * Is there a way I can
 * a) Reference the sub folder sitemap in the main sitemap
 * b) Change the name of the sub folder sitemap to course_index.xml?
 * Or is the best method just to submit the second sitemap to Google Search Console
   and be done with it?
 * Thanks

 * Hi [@one3rdnerd](https://wordpress.org/support/users/one3rdnerd/),
 * Good question. If you only want to submit one sitemap, Yoast SEO would allow
   you to add links the main sitemap index by adding custom code. We have more details
   and code examples in the Yoast developer documentation: [XML Sitemaps API Documentation](https://developer.yoast.com/features/xml-sitemaps/api/#add-additionalexternal-xml-sitemaps-to-the-xml-sitemap-index).
 * As an alternative, Google seems to allow you to [submit multiple sitemaps](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/sitemaps/large-sitemaps)
   for the same domain, so you can also try submitting the second sitemap index
   URL under the same Google Search Console property. We have the steps in this
   guide: [https://kb.yoast.com/kb/submit-sitemap-search-engines/](https://kb.yoast.com/kb/submit-sitemap-search-engines/).

 * Thank you for that. I will try adding it to the main sitemap and see how that
   works out.
