# Multiple Installations' Effect on SEO

 * Hello all,
 * I am looking to create a second website for myself. I want it to use another 
   theme, so I have two options: (a) create a separate installation under the same
   main domain, or (b) try a multi-theme use plugin (such as jonradio Multiple Themes).
 * My concern is with SEO. A separate installation would be just fine with me – 
   but does that require a completely new SEO ranking? Would it be more beneficial
   to use a plugin to maintain my built SEO and add my second website to this?

 * The answer to this depends on what you’re going ot use the new site for.
 * Is the new site going to be related to your existing site, or is it a completely
   different subject?
 * If it’s related to your existing site, then stick with a single installation,
   and try a multi-theme plugin (I haven’t used those before so I can’t comment 
   on how/if they work).
 * If it’s a different subject, then do a second installation and keep it seperate.
   I’d also suggest using at least a subdomain and at best a completely different
   domain.

 * I see. The only overlap really would be me (my name). Topics differ. Seems like
   it would be best (and easier) for me to create a second installation of WP.

 * I do that with Multisite 🙂 ipstenu.org is personal stuff, halfelf.org is techy.
   Multisite is perfect for that. In this case, what’s ‘related’ is you 😀
 * Now if you were talking about a company and a personal blog, no, those should
   be separate 😉
