Multiple images appearing on first render

I have a simple cyclone slider with 2 images coded to appear in the header area of the hueman theme. On first render (and also for the first few seconds in the slideshow preview), both images appear above each other – after that it behaves normally with one image fading into another – can I prevent the first display of both images?
