 * HI,
    I am making a site for a social club. I would like a page with multiple 
   images, with each image linking to a gallery of images from a particular event.
   Is there a widget that does that?

 * WordPress can do that for you – no widget required.
 * Create a Page or Post, click in the post where you want the images/gallery to
   appear, use the Add Media Button in the editor, use the Gallery option, upload
   your images.
 * Once you have images uploaded you can simply add a shortcode.
