I am using Media Library Plus Version (3.0.8)
I am getting multiple folders displayed in the tree on the lefthand side.

In reading other support articles I see that the corrective action is to run a reset so
    I have tried
    1 stop the pluging
    2 Active reset plugin
    3 run databse reset
    4 on success message
    5 De-activate the reset plugin
6 re-activate the media library plus plugin

As far as I can tell there has been no change and the folders are all displayed as before.
I am not sure what the next step is and I wondered if the forum had any suggestions
    Thanks in advance

    Roger,

You can email me at alan@maxfoundry.com and request the Library Clean plugin that will let you see the URLs in your media library database. Normally we find when the tree is not correct it is because there are some URLs that need to be fixed in the database. With the plugin I’ll include instructions on how to fix those problem URLs with the Better Search and Replace plugin.

Thanks for the plugin which works really well. It has helped me to identify that the problem is not in Media library plus at all. The issue is to do with a poorly executed move of my wordpress site and Media library is ‘seeing’ the old domains as well.
A really useful tool and it has really set me on the right track
    Thank you

Thanks Roger. I’ll mark this one as resolved.

I have re-opened this case because I have corrected the underlying move problem but the duplicate folders problem still exists.

AlanP57 was kind enough to send me your diagnostic tool.

In MLP I see several 2012 folders several 2013 etc. in these folders there are months but they are not necessarily the same for each year thus 2012(10 may have 01, 04 and 2012(2) may have 01,02,03 etc.

I used the library clean plugin and discovered that the media library was finding valid URLs for all of these items (they were duplicates but point to one file on the server)

I tried using reset database but while this clears the mlmplus tables I suspect that the problem is with wp_posts.
When you re-activate MLP the duplcates re-appear.

If you scan folders you can see a report at the end that matches what I think is effectively subdir1 (month); directory name; url; top level directory (year)
if you check in wp_posts these records are labelled “mgmlp_media_folder”

I wonder if I remove these records from wp_posts and reset the database will this correct the problem of duplicate directories?

And have you tried using Better Search and Replace? You can use it to find if any old URLs are still in the database and in dry run mode it will not make any changes.

    Hello,

I am not sure what I am achieving with Better search and replace. When I run it I can find some old URLs which are no longer used. However, I am not sure what to do next to make the DB ok to help MLP? Do I delete the old entries from the database? I could convert their names to the current locations but that introduces duplicates into the DB

Sorry the structure of WP really isn’t my strong point so I am probably asking really basic questions.

    Thanks

For Media Library Plus to function correctly you need to fix all the URLs in your Media Library. To use, first backup you database. Before running uncheck Dry Run and check the update GUIDs option. Then let it run. Then deactivate Media Library Plus and activate and run Media Library Plus Reset. Then activate Media Library Plus. Most people report that this solves their problem.

    Hi
Thanks for the help I’ve marked it resolved. The thing that has taked me a long time tonight to grasp and I thought it worth documenting it here in case it catches any other ‘newbies’ out is that the conoical part of the url is important. so although http://www.sitename.co.uk/dir/file and http://sitename.co.uk/dir/filename are physically the same file it will create 2 records and they will show up on as two seperate instances. Still a timely reminder to be less casual in my addressing!

Thanks for your help I doubt that I would have got there without it, your tools and your patience.

    Regards
