    My site:

    For the life of me, I can’t work this out. On the main page where there is the big featured content image, I would like 3 smaller ones next to it, each representing a separate category. I tried making multiples of this:

    <div class="featured-content">
    	<article id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>" <?php post_class(); ?>>
    			<?php if ( has_post_thumbnail() ) : ?>
    			<div class="entry-thumbnail">
    				<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?></a>
    				<?php if ( get_the_category() ) : ?>
    				<span class="entry-thumbnail-categoryf"><?php the_category( ' / ' ); ?></span>
    				<?php endif; // get_the_category() ?>
    			<?php endif; ?>
    		<header class="entry-header">
    			<h1 class="entry-title"><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php echo esc_attr( sprintf( __( 'Permalink to %s', 'expound' ), the_title_attribute( 'echo=0' ) ) ); ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h1>
    		</header><!-- .entry-header -->
    		<div class="entry-summary">
    			<?php the_excerpt(); ?>
    		</div><!-- .entry-summary -->
    		<div class="clear"></div>

    and resizing and repositioning it, but it messes up the rest of the page. I’m not that good with coding and have spent the last few days trying to figure this out but I have no idea.

  • I’ve managed to work out how to get a smaller, separate featured content section next to the main image, but only when it’s included as part of the article. So when I hover over it, the main image and the smaller images are all highlighted at the same time. Is there any way to separate the hover effects for each particular item, or is there a way of doing it without putting them all in the same article?

    If I place the code outside the article, it just goes underneath it.

    Hey there! I don’t see the additional entries you’re referring to on your site right now. What you probably need is a copy of the secondary content area with a secondary loop with a custom WP_Query, perhaps even more than one to query your categories and output one post for each category.
