Why does SendPress keep automatically creating a bunch of subscriber lists, all called “My First SendPress Newsletter”?

I have deleted all of them several times but they keep coming back…..depending on how long it takes me to notice and react, I can wind up with hundreds of them. They are not necessary, as I create and maintain lists as needed.

This seems like a bug – can you advise how to fix it?

    Version of SendPress: 0.9.1
    Verson of WordPress: 3.5.1

Could you follow the debug instructions at this URL and send us some information about your install? If you are not comfortable posting that information in the forum you can send it to us at hello at sendpress.com. Just let us know if you do send it as sometimes they end up in spam.

We have not heard of this bug before and it does not occur on any of our sites or our testing sites so we are curious what else you have running and what your server set up looks like.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the very prompt response Doug!

I did read that page, but unfortunately I can’t deactive any of the plugins being used to check for conflicts as many of them are necessary for site functionality and layout, and it’s a very active site.

However, after the third round of deleting a batch of empty lists with that name, I’ve been watching it for the last couple of hours and no new lists have appeared, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that sending a mailing out to the one active list I have *may* have put a stop to it (? wild conjecture, I know, but I have no other explanation yet, and aside from deleting the lists that’s the only thing I did – queue up and send some email).

I do plan to do more testing on a separate test installation of WP that I use, and will post back any further developements in another day or two.

Just wanted to let you know that we investigated your problem and discovered that there may be a possibility in rare circumstances where SendPress does not know that the first list has been created and continues to attempt to create it. For the time being, in the new release, we are going to stop creating a list when the plug-in is installed. Once we are sure that it is working we may bring that feature back. Thanks for letting us know about it.

The new release should be out either today or tomorrow so you shouldn’t have to wait too long for the fix.

Wonderful – glad I could be of help!

I checked today and I have another 81 “My First” lists that were auto-created, so I’ll be happy to have that fix!

Other than this very minor bug, it’s a really terrific plugin – very easy to use and does the job perfectly. 🙂
