Hey there, I recently updated to 4.4.1 from I believe 3.5 (it was a very old site that hasn’t been updated in a very long time) and since the upgrade, I’ve been having issues with multiple domains.

I originally had 3 different domains all working off the one wordpress install, serving up different content and styles based on the domain. However, since the upgrade, each domain just redirects to the main domain.

I’m not entirely sure what would of caused this, but any help would greatly be appreciated as I now have 2 sites that are effectively gone.

    Thanks!

Hey Neo, nah it was 1 main domain, then 2 secondary domains setup through the hosting provider to mirror the main domain.

What you could try first is to deactivate all the plugins and revert to the default 2016 (or 2015, 2014, etc.) theme, but make sure the theme is up to date first. If nothing changes, then check the .htaccess file.

I’m not very familiar with mirroring domains, but this wiki by DreamHost has this to say…

Mirrored domains and cloaked sites do not tend to work well with some CMS applications (WordPress for example). This is because some CMS applications hard-code the URL for the site and actively rewrite the URL in the browser address bar. This causes the URL for the site to change, effectively ruining the mirrored or cloaked settings. You may need to make further adjustments within the CMS if this is the case.

Thanks Neo, yeah I tried deactivating and switching themes already and same results. I’ve seen a few domain mirroring plugins I might try and see if I can do something with that.

    Excellent! Then everything is working?
If it is, then you could mark this thread “Resolved”.

Working great! Had to move wordpress into the root directory though, had some issues with certain assets not getting loaded when wordpress had it’s own directory.

    Thanks for your help!
