Could you please share the URL of your booking page? Also, could you let me know how you set up four items within a single booking? Are you referring to custom fields?
If possible, please share a screenshot as well. That would help me better understand your setup and take a closer look for you.

At the moment the site isn’t available via the internet but I’ll have another go at explaining what I am doing so hopefully I’ll make a bit more sense as I did a bit of a rubbish job the first time 🙂
The site is used to distribute daily passes to a venue, the pass is emailed to the recipient and this allows them to access the venue for a 24 hour period. Each venue allows 4 passes per day.
On the booking system I’ve created a service called “Venue 1”, the hours for this venue is set to Monday-Sunday 00:00-00:00 to cover the 24 hours.
What I’d like is some way of allowing up to 4 bookings to be made for the same venue on the same day, when the 4 slots are used then the day is no longer accessible via the booking form.
As mentioned before I am sure I had this working in the older version but I might have dreamt that!

Yes, you can do this in the latest version as well. You’ll need to set the maximum number of bookings for a specific day from Webba Settings > Booking Rules > Advanced Settings [screenshot]. Once the total number of bookings reaches 4 for that day, the day will no longer be shown as available in the calendar.

Please try to disable Autolock Booking from Settings > Booking Rules [screenshot].
