Support » Fixing WordPress » Multiple Blog/Single Login/Restrict which Blogs can be seen

  • Hi,

I’m completely new to WordPress and have a specific
    configuration requirement. I’ve installed

I want to set up a site which has multiple blogs acting as a support
    site for our customers.

Each client should log into the site and be able to see only the blogs
that are relevant to their support needs. The support staff should
be able to log into the support site and see all the blogs.

So, from what I’ve read in the documentation on mutliple blogs it
appears that I have to have mutliple wordpress installations which is

I have to figure out some way of authenticating access to the blogs from
a single place above the level of the installation and then logging into
    the blogs in one shot.

    Has anyone been here before?

Is this something that requires me to modify the WordPress core code?
Or is there another way of doing it?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    hi robert
i would like to do the same thing.
so far, i have found new plugin which says can do multiple blogs within the one wordpress installation.

after viewing the installation instructions, it looks like it is a plugin requiring the plug-in manager from Dr Dave. and at the moment, the plug-in manager looks to be temp. out – of – action.

have you had any luck with your endeavour?

That’s pretty slick! I’ve added it to the Codex list:

oops my apologies, i added the url twice.

I looked through that page and found nothing that mentioned requiring the WP Plugin Manager. You can download the plugin here:

If you can’t get that to work, there are plenty of alternatives:

i would like to do a similar thing, but it looks like the ‘multiplied’ plugin goes beyond of what i want to do:

i would like to set up a site with several blogs (e.g. a blog and a photoblog). it is ok if it is via multiple installations. however i might restrict comments to users that register themselves. of course a user that registers to the blog should also be allowed to comment on the photoblog without having to reregister.

so what i am looking for is a way to have a common, shared userdatabase between several blogs. as far as i see it, the easiest solution would be to always sync the user tables of the two blogs whenever a new user registers, or updates his information.

has anyone already done something like this? any other suggestions? plugins?

    its working for me.
    it is simple.
you want to know why it wasn’t working for me?
i uploaded the file into the wrong place.
    anyway it seems fine.
    really neat.

i have added 3 blogs. does each blog operate from the same database?
