• Hi,

I need two separate blogs which will be updated by one user. The two blogs need entirely different themes, will have different content, and should have different URLs. The need may arise to post the same blog post on both blogs, so the ability to share content between the two would be beneficial but not necessary.

Two options I’m aware of, but have not implemented, are creating a network and installing multiple instances of wordpress on the same server.

Also the “Before You Create A Network” codex page (http://codex.wordpress.org/Before_You_Create_A_Network) mentions using plugins to accomplish similar goals.

My questions are, in what way have other users hosted separate blogs on the same server?

Does anyone know of a plugin that would provide a solution to my two blog website?

Any advice on which method to use is appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Kory

  • I have done both. The advantage of using a network is that if you add a theme or plugin to the network, you can make it available to both blogs at the same time. This is useful if the same person is using both blogs, and you want the same functionality in both.

I’m not aware of any plugins that will let you share information between blogs; the only way I’ve done it is through an xml export/import.
