• I will need to have a dozen or so pages eventually, each with its own blog process. And will need to move posts between them regularly. It seems this is not supported in WordPress? Every search result has offered a different solution to the same problem, and none of them are actually helpful.

IS there a widget, or tool, or plugin or guru from above that enables a simple transfer of a post to a different page?

And if not – why not??? I am a total newbie at WP, semi-competent at basic HTML/CSS, but this apparent deliberate omission is very confusing. Am I missing some essential point about the WP platform? You can see my beginning attempts at http://www.churchofzero.com, be aware that at this point, most of the text is not much more than filler or quick reference, there are many more posts and paragraphs to come asd they need to be in their proper threads.

Thanks for any help – I have the Missing Manual, but i am still missing to point…

  • Hi thesoundsmith. Rather than using pages I’d recommend looking at using posts and let the theme generate the pages. You can assign categories to posts, then add the categories to your menu, and the theme will generate the category page with all the relevant posts. If you want to move a post to a different “page” you just need to change the post category. Here are a couple references to explain the differences between WP posts and pages:

Thanks. I have a hard time giving up the control, I guess… I will check these out, thanks.

Yeah, I came from the same HTML/PHP/CSS background. Best thing I ever did was build a site from scratch; learned a lot. Took a bit to learn the “WP way” but it’s pretty easy once you get the process flow down. And, if you want to tweak your site, your knowledge of the core building blocks will come in handy.

I still have use for pages, but I see the differences that, for me for now, will let me do what I want initially. Pages for my blather. Posts where I let them blather back. But I guess I still have to copy/paste pages to make them into posts…

Thanks, that was a great help. I am 100% sure I’ll be back, but this lets me get a long way.

    Yup, I’m b-a-a-ck…

Everything seemed to be moving along nicely, but now I have done something (no idea what) that suddenly my Home page has most, if not all, my posts on it as well as their being where expected.

i have NO idea where to go to edit the Home page/post. I actually think it SHOULD be a static page, but yesterday it was showing what I wanted, so i didn’t worry about it.

Where/how do I access Home and eliminate the extra posts (I did this once before, but have no clue how…)

It appears this post is not going to respond, so please ignore it from now on. I will re-post the question, hope this is not a problem.
