 * Dear crew,
    I want to let people asign multiple authors to a page they are creating.
   I made a custom field with a relationship to authors – tried users also.
 * It works fine for the admin, but i need it for other user roles. I was testing
   it ion roles in capebilities but evenchecking every box that the admin has checked,
   doesnt bring back the capebility to list all the users. somehow only the original
   wordpress admin is alowed to show a list of users. Why?
 * Or – do you know another way a user can define multiple authors through the PODs
   Plugin?
 * ive tried the multiple author plugin for wordpress, but it doesnt show up on
   a PODs page. And there is no checkbox like the title or the author or the featured
   image, that can be shown.
 * Best, Johannes

 * Hi [@cumioco](https://wordpress.org/support/users/cumioco/)
 * When working with authors (read: users) there are capability checks in place.

   Though not 100% sure I believe the current user needs to be able to manage users
   to be able to modify an author relationship. If you use a custom post type then
   the user should be able to access this post type. _Just tested this, any user
   can update the relationship that has access to the current post. You just cannot
   edit the related object if you do not have the right capabilities._
 * So basically, this feature is very different from the actual author field from
   WordPress core. The authors field isn’t provided by Pods and is also handled
   very differently.
    For example, author archives only show posts that are included
   in this field. Pods relationships won’t be used in author archives.
 * This could be a tutorial that suits your use-case:

 * Hey Jory,
    Thanks for the reply. I already used the tutorial you mentioned. The
   problem with this was, that the author box didnt show in the PODS related pages
   for other than for the admin.
 * Speaking of which: in the pages managed through PODS there are many additional
   fields that come from other plugins, such as individual fields, additional CSS(
   i certainly dont want that), WPUF Custom Fields, theme related settings. I dont
   want the user to be able to change that.
    In the advanced options of a POD –
   under “supports” there is a list of things i can turn on and off, but it doesnt
   include the author box and i cant exclude those things i mentioned.

 * Might be best to contact the plugin author in that case, it could be a bug.

 * Keep in mind that Pods simply adds the custom post type. Other plugins (and WP
   core) add functionality to post types and some plugins add them to all post types.
   Think about Yoast SEO. This simply applies to all public post types.
    You need
   to address these plugins and check if they have settings to disable functionality
   per post type. I know for example that Yoast SEO allows you dis enable/disable
   their metabox for a post type.
