I’ve been searching through the codex and forum trying to figure out if I can accomplish a set of requirements with only 1 blog.

I have a contest running where 12 finalists will have their own blog, so to speak. I initially thought ok, 12 seperate blogs (if that’s how you describe it), which WordPressMU can do.

But the powers that be said they want one address to go to, which will have 12 “sections or categories”, with each of those sections or categories being a blog that belongs to one of the finalists.

I guess the main question would be, are you able to restrict a user to only posting to a single category or section? I hope that single question covers my requirements, I unfortunately have no prior experience with WP.

Have a search for the Role Manager and Limit Cats plugins.

Very good, very nice, thank you.

I originally found role-manager written by Owen Winkler at redalt. However, it didn’t work on the latest version of WordPress 2.1. I was going nuts for a couple days trying to figure it out, but as it turns out, Thomas Schneider appears to have taken it over and has released it at http://www.im-web-gefunden.de/wordpress-plugins/role-manager/.

It’s cleaned up and actually works. Kudos to Thomas.

Now that I have created my Roles, I must test with Limit Categories. Hopefully it works too.
