    Hello everyone,

I inherited a website based on typo3, with several sub-sites. I will set up a WordPress Multi-Site installation to take over from the current website, but until everything is ready, and all content is migrated the current website needs to keep on running.

My current plan is to install wordpress along typo3, such that the folder structure is:
    /htdocs/typo3 <——– points here
    /htdocs/wordpress <—– points here
with the other wordpress-multisite-sites organised in subfolders, reachable at,, etc. Then, at the moment everything is ready, i want to just switch the domain mapping, like that:
    /htdocs/typo3 <——— not reachable
    /htdocs/wordpress <—— points here

Is that a good strategy? What do I have to keep in mind? What are the potential pitfalls? Would you advise me to do it differently?
I have read including the Multisite part at the bottom. Is that the only way to do it? Is that the right way to do it?

Thank you very much. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You’re just moving the folder locations? Then you’re not really moving multisite

If you’re simply moving to a new server with the same domain name, you can copy the files and database over, exactly as you would a traditional install.

    Hint 🙂 That’s what you’re doing.

hi ipstenu, thanks for your message.

bu i think you might have misunderstood me.

i am actually doing the inverse of what you said: i am staying on the same server, with the same actual folder locations, and the same database, but i am moving the domain name. before, after

this is a different case, isn’t it?

Ah, okay, then treat it like a new domain and use the interconnectit script on that page to replace with (suggestion: DO NOT use www unless you absolutely have to)

Did that today, worked out great. Thank you.

For everyone, who is in the same position:
Do your backups, use the interconnectit script and you will be fine.
And don’t forget to change the wp-config.php as well. That gave me a short feeling of “fuck something did went wrong!” until i realised what was going on.
