    Hello I have been scouring the internet for quite some time now and finally decided to open a ticket with the hope of receiving some much needed and appreciated help. I have tired many many other solutions I have found and none have worked so far.

    I created a multi-site and that went fairly smoothly. Now when I create a new site I receive either a 404 error on admin pages simply get Index of/ on the actual page.

    Here is my .htaccess file
    # BEGIN WordPress
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^wp-admin$ wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ – [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    # END WordPress

    Here is my wp-config info
    define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);
    define( ‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true );
    define(‘MULTISITE’, true);
    define(‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, true);
    define(‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘’);
    define(‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘/’);
    define(‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);
    define(‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);

    I did set up wildcard sub domains on hostgator
    The subdomain.root domain is * and the document root url is

    I also am not sure if this matters but the home directory is /home1/gk—– and the
    primary domain is

    I have never set up a multi site so my knowledge is limited I apologies if this is not enough info. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help!
