  • I’m getting the following message trying to get into WP after changing setup to a multy site:

    Internal Server Error
    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache mod_fcgid/2.3.5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/ Server at Port 80

    Anys suggestions on how to solve this?

  • You’ll probably need to get a look at the error logs for your site to determine exactly what is causing the error. But you might want to look at .htaccess as that can cause an Internal Server Error fairly easily.

    Did you ask your host before enabling multisite if they support it?

    @andrea: yes, host supports this.
    @wphelpcenter: .htaccess does show up in a search but then I can’t find it in the list when I want to edit it. Frustrating….

    @gertnonerd, what tool are you using to try and edit? Via a web based ftp editor or …?

    And what’s IN your .htaccess?
