  • Did you update your .htaccess file?

    i have no .htaccess file.
    thank you.

    i have no .htaccess file.
    only wp-config.php.
    i copied the below codes to my wp-config.php.
    efine(‘MULTISITE’, true);
    define(‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, true);
    define(‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘’);
    define(‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘/’);
    define(‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);
    define(‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1);
    thank you.

    Well there’s your problem. You skipped a step.

    You need a .htaccess or web.config (if on IIS) or nginx conf file (if on nginx).

    Go to /wp-admin/network/setup.php

    BELOW the part that explains the wp-config, there’s another section for .htaccess.

    Apply that 🙂

    I am using nginx server.
    I Go to /wp-admin/network/setup.php
    and add following file content
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^wp-admin$ wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ – [L]
    RewriteRule ^(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
    RewriteRule ^(.*\.php)$ $1 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    then my network setup page is going to blank.
    Thank you.

    I have the same problem with some different causes:
    I have installed a multisite version in a subfolder /abc of my main webspace. The domain for the WP installation redirects directly to this subfolder /abc, so when you use the URL you reach the landing page.

    The I’ve created a site which shows only plain text.
    I have created/updated the .htaccess-File in the root of my webspace as desired from the script. Is it a problem that the installation is an a subfolder and the domain redirects directly to this subfolder, so taht possibly WP “thinks” this folder is the root?
    I have also tried to put the .htaccess-File in the folder /abc, but this makes no difference.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    jhon57 – Make your own topic please. – Nginx uses a conf file, not an htaccess.

    what can i do? i’am a fresher in wordpress so i don’t know anithing about wordpess.
    thank you.

    If you’re THAT new to WP you really shouldn’t be trying Multisite just yet. That’s like jumping off the high dive the day you learned to swim. Possible, yes, but likely to end in a lot of pain.

    Read to understand the nginx rules.

    I just change sub directry into sub domain that problem is cleared.
    I try learn more about wordpress thank u
    thank u.
