• With Multi Site installed I’m no longer able to access files directly in the web folder. I’m guessing this has to do with the re-write rules but not certain.

Sometimes I share files between stand alone websites by storing them on the domain I’ve setup multi site on. now when i try to access those files I get a 404 – I’ve checked via FTP and the files are located where I’m getting the 404 error.

    Example: domain.com/images/image.png

How would I go about being able to access the specified files again? The folder I’m storing in does not contain any WP related files.

And the permissions on that file are…?

Also, if you;re putting things in real folders that have the same exact name that WordPress uses for things – like /images/ and /files/ then yes, you;re gonna have conflicts.

well looks like the folder name files was the issue. Never would have thought of that as it was never a problem with the single site install.

    Thanks Again Andrea.

MultiSite makes heavier use of virtual folders than Single Site, and there are always conflicts between physical and virtual with the same names 🙂
