Support » Networking WordPress » MU post order alphabetical but need most recent post

  • I’m running an older version of MU, which generally works beautifully. On the blog, however, the posts list alphabetically and not by most recent post, as seems to be norm in WP. Perhaps my research is limited, but I haven’t found anything that addresses this without installing a plugin. I’m hoping that there’s just a line of PHP that I’m missing somewhere that will resolve the issue if modified.

First, I already know I need to upgrade. (It’s in the works, but because this is a production system, yadda yadda yadda.)

Secondly, I’ve tried modifying the “query_posts” part of page.php within my theme by adding “&order=date”, but the posts are still showing up alphabetically.

    Any suggestions? Please and thanks!

  • Additionally, I have searched high and low, and can’t find a fix for this on the web. What this tells me is that my search terms are probably vague and incorrect (though “wordpress mu posts alphabetical” seems pretty clear to me).

Is there really no fix without a plugin?

    The norm is by date.

If your posts are listed as alphabetical, it’s likely your theme, as post display is theme dependent.

Multisite does not reorder the post listings anywhere.

Switch to the default theme and disable your plugins. DOes that fix it?
