MU Install Redirect loop

I’ve been on the chat support with Hostgator for hours with this install problem. We made a wildcard subdomain, tried with and without .htaccess, with and without a wp-config.php file and all we keep getting is this redirect loop. They say it’s a content issue and is internal to the MU installation.

I’m running several regular WordPress installations under my hostgator account and they all operate flawlessly. Please advise.
