I'm trying to move my old Movable Type blog to a WordPress installation. I am generating the import file myself, since the old database is borked. The old trackbacks are getting imported as comments.
My test import file looks like this:
TITLE: Vwls sck AUTHOR: Bryant DATE: 2002/11/26 11:29:48 PRIMARY CATEGORY: Navel-Gazing STATUS: publish ALLOW COMMENTS: 1 ALLOW PINGS: 1 CONVERT BREAKS: 0 EXCERPT: Inspired by Teresa Nielsen Hayden, I present shrpshr.html, a global filter plugin useful for mockery and little else.... ----- BODY: <p>Inspired by <a href="http://nielsenhayden.com/makinglight/archives/2002_11.html#001551">Teresa Nielsen Hayden</a>, I present <a href="/static/shrpshr.html">shrpshr.html</a>, a global filter plugin useful for mockery and little else.</p> ----- COMMENT: AUTHOR: Jeff Youngstrom URL: http://tomecat.com/jeffy/ DATE: 2002/11/26 13:44:00 <p>your download here link on shrpshr.html gives 404. Looks like there's an extra "static/" in there.</p> <p>Putting that in a plugin is a hoot. good job.</p> ----- COMMENT: AUTHOR: Bryant URL: http://popone.innocence.com/ DATE: 2002/11/26 13:48:00 <p>Whups! Fixed. Man, it's my day for silly mistakes.</p> ----- PING: BLOG NAME: MT Plugin Directory URL: http://love-productions.com/mt/docs/plugins/entry/disenvowelment.php TITLE: None IP: 18.104.22.168 DATE: 2003/01/06 18:43:00 The author, Bryant of Population:One, wrote this after a troll posted on a friends blog one too many times. ----- --------
The import screen claims that it's imported with 2 comments and 1 ping, but the ping doesn't show up as a ping when I filter on pings in the comment admin screen.
... now, admittedly, this makes almost no practical difference in my life; I don't display comments and pings differently or anything. But I hate losing metadata, even something as trivial as this.
