    In my WPMU sites W3TC was enabled for each site separately. So I have a different settings for each site and this was very good, since ex: some sites have problems with auto minify detection etc. So yesterday I’ve updated W3TC and get empty menu in each my sites, but main menu now located in network section and inform me that “community mode enabled”. I can’t delete plugins in network since each time I get “You cannot delete a plugin while it is active on the main site”. I can’t disable it in my sites since it not exists in plugins sections and menu contains only dashboard and FAQ etc.

    I’m not sure may be you will fix it in next update and I need to wait? please help me – what I need to do? and If I delete plugin and install again – will it work normally like in previous months?

  • Go to My Sites > Network Admin > Dashboard
    Look at Performance > General Settings / Miscellaneous
    Uncheck “Use single network configuration file for all sites.”

    I’ve got the same problem and I applied the same method, but in my case it does not work. I keep getting the “You cannot delete a plugin while it is active on the main site” error message while trying to delete W3TC.

    Deactivate it on youyr main site.

    Hello Mika,

    I did this, or I misunderstood the meaning of “main site”. Actually the plugin is deactivated in “Network Admin Dashboard”. When I connect on what I think beeing the main site, even there is a “Performance” menu indicating that the plugin is present, it is *not* listed in the plugin list.
