Support » Plugin: MediaElement.js - HTML5 Video & Audio Player » MP4 inline post is broken for [video mp4="url to media".mp4

  • Resolved jolenen

Looks like this great feature to view MP4s inside of post page is not working with the new WordPress 3.2.1 release. Would love to see this working again.

[video src = "url to media".mp4]

  • I see two things wrong with your implementations:

    1. They have spaces before and after the equals sign which can’t be there
    2. The .mp4 file extension has to be inside the quotation marks

    Example that should work:

    Thanks justderek.
I had a typo in my email, but the actual implementation had no spaces between left and right = and the mp4 was inside the quotes.

Should the content be right off the root of the folder?

If what you have above is your exact implementation of the shortcode in your post, it should work. Does nothing at all show up where the video should be? Or do you see the text of your shortcode – that might happen if you used the visual editor instead of the HTML tab on your “Edit Post” page.

As long as the path to the content in your URL is accurate it should work, and there’s no point moving your mp4 file closer to the root of your blog… is that what you were asking? The structure of your uploads folder & sub-directories looks the same as what I use.

Yep, looks like it should work.
The result is a video box with no video.
I checked the video link by entering the media into post. Video works as a typical tag opening outside of the post vs. video playing in post (inline).

Yes, I agree the path shouldn’t make a difference, just thought I’d throw that out as an idea.

I’m selecting video by navigating to the Media library.

What’s interesting is that this code/page with the [video mp4] tag seemed to work just last week. The only thing I recall is upgrading to WP 3.2.1.

Looks like it works now (WP 3.2.1) and MediaElement.js (2.1.7). Reinstalled MediaElement.js and that seemed to fix it.

    Thanks justderek for your help!
