  • I have not seen a solution to this problem I’m having uploading an mp3 file.

Here is the error I get: (Sitename) wp-content/plugins/wordfence/vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/lib/rules.php on line 728

I tried disabling wordfence and Jetpack, and emptying cache, different browser etc. Nothing worked. I even uploaded the file via ftp, but it is not recognized as available.

I am at a loss as to how to make this file available on a support page for my site. Anyone solve this issue?

  • That’s the line where WordFence iterates through any uploaded file, searching for patterns of malware.
You might try temporarily deactivating WordFence just before uploading a (proven) mp3-file, and then reenabling WordFence.

If you just upload a media file via ftp, you may refer to it in your html, but the media gallery won’t know about it. There may be some plugin that can scan the media directories for files that are missing in the catalog, but right now I didn’t find any when I did a (very quick) search.

Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking that and tried deactivating wordfence and jetpack as well, but still couldn’t upload the file. Maybe it’s a cache issue, but emptying it or using a different browser didn’t help either. It’s driving me nuts.

Check the maximum allowed size for file upload.
Depending on your web hosting provider, you may be able to override the standard max file upload sizes of upload_max_filesize and post_max_size
