mp3 exclusion not working

Hi folks,

I’ve added a *.mp3 exclusion, but new backups still contain mp3s in the uploads subdirectories. Pic of settings: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u0vebuld5ya61yr/untitled.png?dl=0

Following your support docs, I added the exclusion in wp-config.php instead:
define(‘UPDRAFTPLUS_EXCLUDE_EXTENSIONS’, ‘mp3,mp4’);
But still, the subsequent backups contain mp3s.

Maybe it’s only a feature for pro users, but I thought I’d ask. The plugin is fully up-to-date at Version 1.13.4.

Hi,

I’m afraid that the screenshot that you linked to doesn’t appear to show the UpdraftPlus settings.

Please could you try replacing the line you added in wp-config.php with:
define('UPDRAFTPLUS_EXCLUDE_EXTENSIONS', 'mp3,mp4');

It appears that the quote marks may have been incorrect.

What’s shown in the screenshot (which does work for me – I can see the settings) doesn’t match the instructions for excluding based on file extension; see again under 3 here – https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-can-i-exclude-particular-filesdirectories-from-the-backup/ – you’ve missed off the “ext:” part.

Apologies for the mix up with the image. It got overwritten by a different image using the same filename. I reverted it just before @davidanderson commented 🙂

Thanks to you both for the clarification. I’ve used the “ext:” method in the settings area and the new backup size is orders of magnitude smaller 🙂 Success!
