I have an open ticket for this suggestion at

I’m not convinced yet for a few reasons:
    * It sounds like yet another idea from Mozilla that goes nowhere.
    * This is very, very niche, and I have a ton of mainstream appeal features I’d like to work on.
    * I never got a useful reply from the Open Badges mailing list about some questions I had, so I lost interest.
    * The idea of using the Open Badge JS to fetch and display badges would be hard to integrate with Achievements, as I’d need to sync any badges from the JS back into WordPress.
    * If I did this, a more likely first implementation would just generate the assertion files, and let something else figure out the other parts.

Thanks for your response, it was interesting to hear your opinion. I work in higher ed and there has been a ton of buzz lately regarding badges and specifically Open Badges, so I guess it doesn’t seem nearly as niche to me, just in the growing stages, but maybe that’s just how it appears from my vantage point. I do know a new plugin, BadgeOS, was recently released that does just this, but the Achievements plugin has been around a lot longer and seems to be way more powerful, so I thought this may be something you may be considering as well. Anyway, thanks again for your thoughtful response!

No problem — I need to check out BadgeOS, but yes, it’s a new option that has Open Badges support already.
