    Hi Team,

Just an idea from my side – I’ve saw couple of discussions about running WordPress on different databases.
Why not migrate WordPress to Database Abstraction Layer? For example ORM solutions (used by Symfony framework in 2000-someting year) was able to work with different databases. Compatibility layer was only requesting driver.
PHP has drivers for core SQL databases – why not to use advantage of this mechanism?
If someone would like to switch to MSSQL – great, SQLite3 – why not!, PostgreSQL – that’s good.
I’ve also reviewed what’s going on in WordPress under the hood and there is not so much black magic going on that could tight it with MySQL. It looks like now more all-developers preference rather than “business case need” or real “requirement”.
