# Moving WordPress Site

 * I have a WP site which is mainly a photo gallery. The domain name I have is horrible!
   I am looking to use a different domain name and move the entire site over. I 
   have no problem changing logos, headers or anything else associated with the 
   old domain, but…
 * I have about 7,000 images up and running on the site. The way I did it was to
   first FTP the pictures, then click in the image icon in each post and placed 
   the URL of the pictures there so that the image showed up in real size. I know
   it was time consuming, but I’ve only uploaded 15 images per day.
 * So now if I move the site, all the images will be pointing to the old domain.
   I know I could technically leave them there, but I would prefer to move everything
   entirely. Would there be an easy way to change the URL location of every image
   from domainA.com/images/ to domainB.com/images/ ?

 * When I had to move domains, tamba’s info was great – [http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/move/](http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/move/)–
   in particular the SCR Freeware thing that let you edit anything in the database…
   would be ideal for your URLs.

 * Just to add a tip – in some cases its well worth knowing about the [Search and replace plugin](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search-and-replace/)–
   just use with caution.
    With it I once changed the base url in a complete 200
   + post site. Kjetil
