Moving WordPress gives trouble
-
Hi all,
I’ve been trying to solve my problem for over a week now, but I can not seem to figure it out, so I was hoping you guys could help me out: here’s my problem.
Due to the rising amount visitors I’m asked by my hosting provider to change to another hosting provider which ‘suits better to my demands’. So I hired a server with LeaseWeb.
After installing all the necessary elements (PHP5, MYSQL, you name it), I have installed WordPress 3.1.3; the same version now running on the ‘old server’. It’s absolutely necessary to transfer the excisting posts and photos to the new server, so I transfered over 23,500 posts and more than 15,000 photos via FTP, baring in mind the permalink structure WordPress uses on the old server (year/month/iets.jpg) for photos and for posts year/month/day/permalink.
The problem lies in the fact that if I want to read a full post (read more button) on the frontpage (frontpage works just fine), the permalink to the post itself won’t function and returns a 404 Not Found message. On the new installation, all the settings have been transferred actually as they were on the old server.
Is there anybody who recognizes this problem and knows the actual solution for this? Live preview: http://85.17.255.36 –> It’s an IP address since I haven’t pointed the domain to the new IP just yet.
Thank you in advance.
Greetings,
Casper van der Hoek
