Moving wordpress from subdomain to root directory

I originally installed wordpress just to use the blog feature so installed it in the subdomain of /Blog. I’ve now decided to build the whole website with it so want to move the files to the root directory. I changed the urls and moved the files to the root directory but it all went horribly wrong and my website was lost for about 9 hours and I couldn’t access the wordpress admin until I deleted then reinstalled all the files back in to the /Blog folder. I’m hoping that someone can help and talk me through it really slowly as I can’t work out where I went wrong.

Also my website is now automatically directing to http://www.drawnbyrhiannon.co.uk/Blog which is handy in a way as people are being directed when they type in http://www.drawnbyrhiannon.co.uk but I just don’t want the /Blog in every address of the website!

After the site transfer in the root enter this code in wp-config.php
```
define('WP_HOME','https://www.drawnbyrhiannon.co.uk');
define('WP_SITEURL','https://www.drawnbyrhiannon.co.uk');
```
Also backup the database and use this plugin to replace https://www.drawnbyrhiannon.co.uk/Blog with https://www.drawnbyrhiannon.co.uk

OK so I’ve export the database and now I have a downloaded SQL file, is that correct?
I’ve also installed the plugin you suggested.

So is the next step to
1. change the urls WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to drawnbyrhiannon.co.uk
2. then move the contents of the /Blog folder to the root directory
3. then edit the wp-config file
4. finally use the plugin to get rid of any /Blog

Have I got that right? Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, I usually do this. The database remains the same. The saved database file is used in case of error in replacing the text.

That’s worked, thank you so much! The only problem is that when I type in http://www.drawnbyrhiannon.co.uk it still automatically adds the /Blog so now it is sending it to the blog page of the website. It does this too if you click on the home button when you’re on the website. All the other links work fine, just the homepage that’s being difficult! Do you know what might be causing this?

I have tried and it works well. Try to clear your browser’s cache.
