Moving WordPress from Sub directory to Parent

Hello people!

I’ve been working on a site where I’ve decided I want to re-do the entire site into a WordPress theme. I’ve created a sub-directory on the server in which I will be modifying the theme and uploading content in the “background” while the original site still runs.

I want as little disruption in this revamp process as possible. So the main site must continue running up until the point where I will be ready to move the completed WordPress version from its “testing” sub-directory into the parent directory.

Please assist me with any obstacles that I may come accross. I will update this thread as I go along.

My first step will be installing WordPress in the sub directory.
