# Moving WordPress Folder

 * I’ve been testing out wordpress on my local apache server, because I eventually
   plan to move my wordpress.com blog to a self hosted wordpress blog, and I would
   like to be as prepared as possible for this when I do.
 * So, one of the things I did, was move the folder that wordpress is at. I ran 
   the install script, got everything set up, and moved the folder. When I did, 
   I lost all of my formatting, and using wp-admin did nothing except give me a 
   404 error. (Also, I was pointing my browser towards the changed folder name).
   When I changed the name of the folder back, it worked just fine. So, I would 
   like to know what happened, and what I would need to do if I did want to change
   the name of the folder containing wordpress. Thank you.

 * Before moving to a different folder, make sure you log into your Dashboard and
   head over to the settings area and click into the General section.
 * Where it says: WordPress address (URL), make sure to tell it the new folder you
   plan to put WordPress into.
