Moving Updated Posts to Top? (3 posts)

    Hi,

    I tried searching but couldn't find any answers. It would be great if someone could help out.

    Does anyone know if there is a feature or plugin that would automatically move updated posts to the top? I use WP to keep people up to date on our IT systems and would like to be able to just update posts to give updates rather than making new posts. Also, updating the post date/time is not an option since it would skew the original timestamp.

    I'm currently using the Recently Updated Pages plugin so folks can see what was updated, but I feel it would be more beneficial if they were actually promoted back to the top instead.

    Thanks!

    you could try and add a custom query before the loop on your template;

    using the orderby=modified parameter:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/WP_Query#Order_.26_Orderby_Parameters

    for instance:

    <?php global $query_string;
    query_posts($query_string . '&orderby=modified'); ?>

    Thanks alchymyth! That did the trick.

    For anyone else wanting to do this, edit the template's index.php file and add the code right after <?php if(have_posts()) : ?> or something similar at the top.
